Periodontitis is a chronic inflammation of the gum and underlying bone structure. It doesn’t cause swelling and pain before reaches a very late stage and teeth may be lost due to the compromise of the bone supporting them.
So it is critical to keep track of the status of your gum by regular dental checkups and X-rays, when periodontitis is present it’s important to get it controlled with appropriate treatment that may include deep cleaning, root planning, or surgeries depending on each patient.

Filling 补牙/龋齿充填
Occasionally we get cavities and a filling is used to restore the tooth. Initially, the tooth is cleaned out and the dentist fills the cavity with filling material. This will prevent further decay of the tooth.

During this procedure, the dentist will remove the infected pulp, clean the inside of the root, and fill the space.

Crowns & Bridges 牙冠/牙桥
One way to restore a tooth after it has been damaged is by placing a cap over the tooth, also called a crown. The crown will be created to look like your natural tooth.
When you have a missing tooth one way to fill the gap is to use the existing teeth on either side of the gap to ‘bridge’ the gap. A bridge is designed by creating an artificial tooth fused between two crowns.
